Cases & Lacambra welcomes Fernando Cerdá Albero as new of counsel of the Firm, to strengthen the Restructuring and Insolvency practice. In addition, he will enhance the Firm’s capabilities in litigation and arbitration, corporate m&a and special situations.
The Firm’s new of Counsel is Professor of Commercial Law at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and a jurist of acknowledged reputation in Bankruptcy Law, Corporate Law and Commercial Law.
He has more than 35 years of professional practice. With a broad expertise in specialized legal advice – through the resolution of consultations and preparation of legal opinions -, as well as in legal defense of clients’ interests, both in judicial and arbitration proceedings, as well as out of court. He acts as attorney at law both before civil and commercial courts, as well as in ordinary and extraordinary appeals, in litigation on directors’ and auditors’ liability, challenges to corporate resolutions, corporate transactions, structural modifications, commercial and civil contracts, claims for damages for infringements of competition law, and in all matters arising in insolvency proceedings and restructuring (notification of the initiation of negotiations and restructuring plans).
He has an extensive academic career, being the author of numerous books and scientific articles published in Spain, Italy, and Germany, on many issues of Commercial Law, Company Law, Bankruptcy Law, Competition and Industrial Property Law, Accounting Law, Contract Law, Maritime Law. He has also participated in the drafting of several bills on private law matters and is a member of the editorial board of the Revista Jurídica de Catalunya and of the technical committee of the Anuario de Derecho Concursal (Bankruptcy Law Yearbook). He is also a frequent lecturer at congresses, conferences, and seminaries.
Prior to joining Cases & Lacambra, Fernando Cerdá has held the positions of partner and of counsel in two leading national law firms.
Fernando Cerdá Albero holds a law degree from the University of Valencia (extraordinary degree honors) and a PhD in Law from the Università degli Studi di Bologna (double extraordinary PhD honors). He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in arbitration, restructuring, litigation, and corporate and M&A practices.
